Product Overview
The Juniper SRX3K-16GE-TX Gigabit Ethernet I/O Module has the capacity to support Fast Ethernet, Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet traffic through copper media. As it is inserted horizontally into the services gateway, the device is designed to communicate with Switch Fabric Board (SFB) to receive power. Along with the RJ-45 connectors, the Ethernet I/O Module also features LED’s on the IOC which indicate connectivity and port status.
Description
Featuring 16-port Ethernet TX IOC design pattern, SRX3K-16GE-TX module features 16 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports along with a network processing unit (NPU). The Services Processing Cards (SPCs) deliver the processing power to operate services such as IPsec, Firewall and IDP. With a maximum configurable MTU value of 9293 bytes, the device needs a minimum power of 52W to operate normally. The overall weight is 2.4lbs and is absolutely easy to connect.
Software
The available software for SRX3400 and SR3600 processors is Junos OS Release 9.3 and later versions for which users must follow the installation guide included in the packaging. For the SRX1400 processor, the supporting software is Junos OS Release 10.2 and later versions.
Cables and Connectors
To enable gigabit ethernet services properly, sixteen RJ-45 connectors for 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet are required.
Supported Slots
For the SRX3K-16GE-TX Gigabit Ethernet I/O Module, the supported slots include SRX1400, SRX3400 and SRX3600. For the SRX1400 processor, front slot is labeled 2 whereas the SRX3400 processor features front slots labeled 1-4. Lastly, the SRX3600 processor has front slots labeled 1-4 for which extra information is available in the Junos OS documentation.
Swapping and Controls
The SRX3K-16GE-TX IOC supports cold-swap only modules. Before adding, replacing or removing the IOCs, it is recommended that the services gateway must be powered off in order to avoid any type of malfunction.
LEDs
The changing color of LED indicates working status of the Gigabit Ethernet I/O module. When the Service LED, one bicolor is turned off, the IOC is powered off but mapped to the NPC whereas the Green light indicates that the module is mapped to the NPC and is ready to carry Ethernet traffic. Amber color shows that the IOC is not mapped to the NOC and is not yet ready to carry Ethernet traffic.
OK/FAIL LED, one bicolor when turned off shows that the services gateway is not turned or is yet to be configured for chassis clustering. Furthermore, Steady green color indicates that the services gateway is being configured for chassis clustering along with a normal SCM operation. The blinking green LED shows that the SCM is initializing and is ready to go offline whereas the Red color indicates that the service gateway is not operating normally or has failed.
