The SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch is an unmanaged Hirschmann 5-port Ethernet switch. It has 4 copper ports with RJ-45 interfaces and 1 fiber port with an SC interface. The copper ports support 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps data rates. The fiber port supports a 100 Mbps data rate. Two types of fiber optic cables are used for networks, and they are single mode and multi-mode cables. Single mode fiber offers higher transmission distances compared to the multi-mode fiber. The SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch has a single mode fiber interface which can support 0 to 32.5 kilometer distances. Other SPIDER switches which support multi-mode fiber can support up to 5-kilometer distances. The optical wavelength used for single mode transmission is 1300 nanometers. The 32.5-kilometer single-mode distance can be achieved for a per-kilometer attenuation of 0.4 dB per kilometer.
The copper ports on this Hirschmann switch can be used with twisted pair cables measuring up to 100 meters in length. The SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch supports store and forward Ethernet switching. All of the network ports on the SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch support auto-negotiation for data rates and auto-crossing for straight/crossover cable detection. At 24 Volts DC, the maximum current consumed by the switch is 150 milliamps and the maximum power consumed is 3.9 Watts. The range of DC voltage which can be used to operate the switch is 9.6 to 32 Volts DC. The rated MTBF for the SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch is 93.9 years. The SPIDER 4TX/1FX-SM EEC switch supports an extended operating temperature range where the minimum operating temperature is -40 degrees Celsius and the maximum operating temperature is 70 degrees Celsius.
