The RS20-1600L2M2SDAU switch is an unmanaged Ethernet switch that has been included in the RS20 Bulletin of switches manufactured by Hirschmann Automation. This switch is an unmanaged switch that can be programmed to perform specific functions and it is meant to provide a connection to different equipment in an large-scale automation process in a specific industry or to an internet network so that these devices can receive and send data when required without intervention by supervisors. The Hirschmann Automation RS20-1600L2M2SDAU Ethernet switch includes 16 ports for fast Ethernet communication which consist of one uplink port for single-mode fiber connections, one uplink port for multi-fiber connections, and 14 standard ports for any compatible equipment. This switch requires a power supply that is provided through a 6-pin terminal block.


The Hirschmann Automation RS20-1600L2M2SDAU unmanaged Ethernet switch can operate in multi-mode fiber setup with communication distances of up to 4000 or 5000 meters, and in single-mode fiber setups with communication distances from 24 to 86.6 kilometers. Single-mode fiber is recommended for use with long haul transceivers whereas the multi-mode fiber has been designed for shorter connections. The Hirschmann Automation RS20-1600L2M2SDAU Ethernet switch needs to be carefully unpacked and checked before attempting to install it. The switch has been ideally designed to be mounted to a 35-millimeter DIN Rail according to the DIN EN 60175 standards. Once the switch is mounted, the technicians need to make sure that the switch snaps into place by pressing the switch down against the DIN Rail while following the snap-in guide, so that the switch will be secured in place. The switch also needs to be grounded.
