The M4-FAST 8-SFP module is a media module that has been designed and manufactured by Hirschmann and Belden. This media module is part of the Hirschmann and Belden rack mount switch product line, which includes a variety of switches, modules, and other spare parts and accessories. The M4-FAST 8-SFP media module has 8 Ethernet ports which are SFP and 10/100 BASE-FX ports. This media module is designed to connect to Hirschmann MACH4000 switches to provide the switches with additional communication ports. It draws its power from the MACH4000 switch’s backplane and it consumes 15 Watts of power in the course of normal operation. In addition to its 8 ports, the M4-FAST 8-SFP media module has an M-FAST SFP transceiver.

The Hirschmann and Belden M4-FAST 8-SFP 8-port media module from the rack mount switch series has been certified to promote the safety of industrial control equipment with the cUL 508 standard, and it has been certified to promote the safety of information technology equipment with the cUL 60950-1 standard. This media module also meets the Germanischer Lloyd standard for shipbuilding. The M4-FAST 8-SFP media module features several LEDs that can provide the users with different status updates about the module, the switch, or the application process. The LEDs on this module include the power LED, the link status LED, the data LED, the Full Duplex LED, the ring port LED, and the test LED. The M4-FAST 8-SFP media module supports Full Duplex setups. Its ambient operating temperature range is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
