The Hirschmann RS20-0800S2S2SDAE switch is a managed switch with 2 uplink ports and 6 host ports. The uplink ports work with single mode fiber connections which can support up to 32-kilometer connection distances provided that the attenuation does not exceed 0.4 dB per kilometer at a 1300-nanometer optical wavelength. The sockets on the fiber uplink ports are SC sockets. The uplink ports carry the aggregated traffic from the host ports to the aggregation switches. The 2 uplink ports on the RS20-0800S2S2SDAE managed switch are used to ensure redundancy, which leads to increased network uptime. The host ports are 10/100BASE-TX ports which support auto-negotiation, auto polarity, and auto-crossing functions. They work with twisted pair cables of up to 100 meters in length.
