The MM2-2FXM2 media module is a multi-mode media module for PowerMICE switches. It has been manufactured by Hirschmann. This industrial media module is most suitable for small to medium-sized networks. It helps to improve the network up time and aids in high speed data transmission. It is equipped with 2 high-speed Ethernet 100Base ports on the back. The accompanying LED indicators for the ports are housed on the front side of the module. These LEDs indicate the network operating status of the module. The MM2-2FXM2 media module can be easily installed and mounted on the host managed switch's backplane. The enclosure of the media module is IP 20 rated and it is not water resistant. The media module consumes a total of 3.4 Watts of power during operation and the operating voltage is supplied through the backplane of the PowerMICE switch.

The Hirschmann MM2-2FXM2 multi-mode media module uses a multimode fiber 50/125 μm option for a length of 0 to 5000 meters with an 8 dB link budget at 1300 nm and a multimode fiber 62.5/125 μm option for a length of 0 to 4000 meters with an 11 dB link budget at 1300 nm. The MTBF rating of the MM2-2FXM2 media module is about 83.5 years. The operating temperature range of the media module should be set between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius and the storage temperature range can be between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius. The MM2-2FXM2 media module is RoHS compliant and it is immune to EMC interference. During operation, the module should not be exposed to high levels of constant heat and should be protected against water sprays and splashes.
