The GECKO 5TX switch from Hirschmann is a Lite managed switch that uses the Ethernet network to communicate with other devices. It needs to be configured before use, but it is easy to install and it is designed to be able to be used in harsh environments and demanding applications. The GECKO 5TX managed switch is a DC-powered switch and its standard operating voltage range is from 12 to 24 Volts DC. The ambient operating temperature range for the GECKO 5TX Lite managed switch is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius or 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and it is not built with a cooling fan. Most of the time, this switch can be air-cooled as long as it has enough ventilation space around it and as long as the ambient temperature remains stable and within the specified range, but an external cooling device can be installed if necessary.

The Hirschmann GECKO 5TX Lite managed switch supports both the store switching mode and the forward switching mode. Its power supply is its plug-in terminal block that has a 3-pin connector. The terminal block provides the GECKO 5TX managed switch with the DC power that it needs, and while this switch normally uses only 12 to 24 Volts DC, the widest voltage range that it can support without experiencing errors or damage is from 9.6 to 32 Volts DC. This switch can use twisted pair or TP cables that are up to 100 meters long to make connections to other devices. The GECKO 5TX Lite managed switch can be used in any line or star network topology. It has an IP 30 protection rating, it weighs 110 grams, and its dimensions are 25 x 114 x 79 millimeters.
