The GECKO 4TX Ethernet switch is a Lite managed switch that has been manufactured by Hirschmann. Because it is a managed switch, the GECKO 4TX switch needs to be configured by the users before it can be activated and used. Despite needing to be configured before it is used, the GECKO 4TX managed switch is easy to install because it has been designed to be used in harsh industrial environments. If the users want to access the device through the network the first time that they install it, they will need to have the IP parameters for the device, and to have the IP parameters, they will need to define them first. The users can define the IP parameters for the GECKO 4TX managed switch through the DHCP server, the HiDiscovery software, the BOOTP software, or through a graphical user interface.

The Hirschmann GECKO 4TX Ethernet Lite managed switch can be configured with configuration settings and programs that are imported from another device. Configuration settings on this switch can also be exported to other devices. The Hirschmann software that the GECKO 4TX managed switch uses can be updated when new versions of the software are available to keep the switch as up to date as possible. The communication ports on the GECKO 4TX managed switch are enabled by default, but the users can disable any of the ports that are not currently being used to save energy and to increase security. The users can also manually select the switch’s data transfer rate and whether it is using half-duplex or full-duplex connections. Passwords can also be used to prevent unauthorized access to the GECKO 4TX managed switch.
