The BRS40-8TX-HL switch is a managed industrial switch that has been designed and manufactured by Hirschmann. This BOBCAT-series managed switch has 8 ports of the 10/100BASE TX/RJ45 type and it features a plug-in terminal block for the power supply/signaling contact and another terminal block for the digital input. The operating voltage of the BRS40-8TX-HL managed switch is 12 Volts DC or 24 Volts DC) and it includes the SNTP Client/Server functionality. The unit has features like a buffered real time clock, a port power down feature, real-time communication through TSN, and compact polycarbonate housing. The housing of the unit has an IP 30 environmental protection rating and the managed switch supports DIN Rail installation. Additionally, the unit supports installation on a wall if necessary.

The BRS40-8TX-HL Ethernet managed switch includes approvals from the CE, FCC, EN61131, and EN62368-1 standards. Additionally, the BRS40-8TX-HL switch has a power consumption rating of 8 Watts along with 27 BTU per hour power of output. The switch can make connections with twisted pair cables at a length of up to 100 meters. This Gigabit-type switch comes with the 8.3 software version and it is designed without a fan. In addition to that, the unit can be stored at a temperature range between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius (-40 and 158 degrees Fahrenheit). The BRS40-8TX-HL managed switch is equipped with a USB-C port and it operates with industrial protocols  like the EtherNet/IP protocol, IEC61850 protocol, Modbus TCP protocol, and the PROFINET protocol. The unit has a weight of 500 grams or 1.1 pounds and it has small dimensions that conserve panel space.
