The OCTOPUS 8TX-EEC Ethernet Switch belongs to the OCTOPUS 8TX family of Ethernet switches made by Hirschmann. It has a compact and space-saving design that makes it ideal for use in smaller industrial networks and machine systems. The OCTOPUS 8TX-EEC Ethernet Switch is optimized for providing reliable video streaming even in harsh industrial conditions. It has a maximum tolerable operating voltage range of 9 to 32 Volts DC, a current consumption rating of 180 milliamps, and 4.2 Watts of rated power consumption. It uses 100-meter twisted-pair cables for the network connections. This switch eliminates the need for an external PoE power source or a power supply. The OCTOPUS 8TX-EEC Ethernet Switch can work with a range of different frames and features such as jumbo frames and QoS.   

The Hirschmann OCTOPUS 8TX-EEC Ethernet Switch comes with a protective metal housing with a high protection rating of IP 65/IP 67. It can limit the network load per port through its enhanced IT security, and it can withstand exposure to harsh operating conditions such as high levels of vibration, extreme temperatures, water, and dust.  This unmanaged switch is a ready-to-use module which can be easily and quickly put into operation when it arrives. Some of the main specifications of the OCTOPUS 8TX-EEC Ethernet Switch include 8 configurable Fast Ethernet ports, various configuration options, a wide operating temperature range, shock and vibration-resistant connectors, and installation options outside the protective cabinet. The maximum operating altitude of the module is 3000 meters. This switch module can be used in a range of transportation applications such as rail rolling stock, road vehicles, and mass transit system applications.
