The OCTOPUS 16M-8PoE switch is an Octopus series managed switch from the Hirschmann and Belden brand. It comes with an IP 67 environmental protection class rating which is in accordance with the IEEE 802.3 standards. The OCTOPUS 16M-8PoE managed switch provides high levels of operational reliability and flexibility over long periods of time, even in extreme conditions, making it ideal for use in rail, road, and water vehicle applications. It has 16 M12 D-coded female ports that support Ethernet communication (10Mbit/s) and Fast Ethernet communication (100Mbit/s) over twisted-pair cables rated at 10/100 BASE-TX, with 8 of these ports supporting Power over Ethernet (Phantom Power) connections in accordance with the IEEE 802.3af standards. This OCTOPUS device allows for easy commissioning through auto-crossover, auto-polarity, and auto-negotiation functions.
Other key features of the OCTOPUS 16M-8PoE switch include attributes like the store-and-forward switching mode. It utilizes the Layer 2 Professional (L2P) software for switching. Its operating voltage range is between 46 and 58 Volts DC and the operating temperature range is between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to use accessory parts that support a similar temperature range and IP rating as the switch to avoid limiting the device’s overall operating conditions.
