The OBR40-9-LC relay module is an optical bypass relay module that is made for the FiberINTERFACES series interface modules from Hirschmann. This module is a fiber optic type of relay module that can be used as a passive bypass module for Ethernet switches in the event of a power failure in an industrial FiberINTERFACES system. The OBR40-9-LC optical bypass relay module is made to be used with single mode fiber optic cables and it is suitable for use at all industrial data rates and for all the standard data protocols. This relay module comes with 4 ports, and it makes its power supply and signal contact connections through its 4-pin terminal block. The OBR40-9-LC relay module operates on DC voltage in a range from 10 to 60 Volts DC and its power consumption rating during operation is 2.5 Watts.

The Hirschmann FiberINTERFACES series OBR40-9-LC optical bypass relay module has an MTBF or mean time before failure rating of 30 years and it is rated to operate safely in an extended operating temperature range. Its compatible operating temperature range is from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius or -40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit while its compatible storage and transportation temperature range is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The OBR40-9-LC relay module can tolerate relative humidity levels from 10 to 95% without condensation in operation, storage, and transportation. This module weighs about 500 grams and its dimensions are 115 x 61 x 113 millimeters. The environmental protection rating for the enclosure of the OBR40-9-LC relay module is IP 30.
