Product Overview

WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L is a Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch with a fixed configuration module. The WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L has 24 switch ports (10 Gig), 2 uplinks (SFP) modules and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The device is capable of providing electricity to other LAN devices using PoE (Power over Ethernet). The switch runs on a LAN Based IOS software.

Power Consumption

The input Voltage for the switch is 100 to 240 VAC, the input current in 2 to 4 Amperes with 50 to 60 Hertz of frequency. The maximum power consumption of power for WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L is 0.16 kVA. The power consumed by the switch during 0% and 100% traffic throughput are 28.5 watts and 34.8 Watts respectively.

WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L has 110W of power at its disposal for using the PoE (IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at) feature. There are 8 PoE ports on the device.The PoE features enables the switch ports to conduct electricity through Ethernet cables for powering common LAN devices such as IP phones, Wireless access points. The features cuts the costs for the installation of new electric circuits for those LAN devices and reduces overall power consumption. Up to 3 ports with 30 watts power can be used with PoE+ technology and 7 ports with 15.4 watts of power can be used for powering devices with PoE technology.


WS-C2960X-24PSQ-L is capable of routing and forwarding layer 3 traffic. The Layer 3 forwarding rate of a 64 byte packet is 71.4 Mpps. The IPv4 and IPv6 unicast routing protocols can be configured in the switch. Even multicast traffic can flow through the switch.

Hardware Specifications

128 MB data storage is available for the flash memory in WS-C2960X-24PSQ-LCPU is dual core with 600Mhz. The console port is available as a USB (type B) or Ethernet (RJ 45). The storage interface uses an USB type A port for connecting an external flash storage.


A maximum of 4096 VLAN IDs are available on WS-C2960X-24PSQ-LCPU. The maximum number of active VLANs is 1023. The forwarding bandwidth and the switching bandwidth at full duplex capacity is 108 Gpps and 216 Gpps respectively. The MTBF (Mean Time between Failures) is 462,680 hours.

Operational Simplicity

DHCP configuration in the switch can be automated in the switch which simplifies deployment. The LACP and PAgP protocols makes the Ether Channel deployments easily. UDLD (Unidirectional Link failure) detects the failures on the optic fiber cables (unidirectional) and the ports associated with such cables. Voice VLAN makes deploying telephony network easy and keeps the Voice data separate which also makes administration and troubleshooting simpler.
