Introduction

The Arista (DCS-7050S-64-D) is a layer 2, 3 and 4 with 48 10 GE SFP+ and 4 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ ports in a compact 1 Rack Unit chassis. Each 40 GbE interface could function as 4 autonomous[PS1]  10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to deliver a complete 64[PS2] , 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The Arista 7050-64 provides a latency which is approximately the equivalent of 800 to 1200[PS3]  nanoseconds in cut through manner.

 

Performance

The Arista switch 7050S-64-D has 48xSFP+ and 4xQSFP+ ports which can give output of switch capacity of 1.28 Tbps. It consists if 4096 Virtual Interfaces(VLANs). Flash memory of this switch is up to 2GB with 128K entries. The Jumbo frame support of the arista switch is 9216 bytes. Camera of 2Gb is installed in this switch. It is manageable with Layer 3 advanced switching.

 

Control Plane and Storage

The Arista switch has a Dual-core x86 CPU with 4GB DRAM and flash memory of 2 GB enhanced. The user applications can work in a Virtual Machine Built-in Storage. The devices store logs and data captures. The switch supports 128,000 MAC address entries. The switch also supports TRILL. The routing table is capable for holding up to 16k IPv4 routes, 8k IPv6 routes, 8k multicast groups and Dynamic Buffer allocation of 9MB.

 

 

Features

The Arista 7050 series switches support various features such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 packet forwarding, setting up ACL (Access Control Lists), Front to back and back to front airflow for cooling the device, port mirroring, Spanning Tree Protocol, Syslog, Quality of Service (QoS) and creating VLANS.

 

The Switch is capable of forwarding multicast traffic and allows the configuration of Layer 3 protocols such as BGP and OSPF. Number of features such as VRRP, Ether channel uplinks, can be set up on the switch is improve the redundancy in the topology.
