The GECKO 8TX/2SFP switch is a managed type of Ethernet switch that has been manufactured by Hirschmann in the GECKO and Lite product lines. The GECKO 8TX/2SFP Lite managed switch has been designed to be easy to configure and install because it needs to be configured before it can be activated and because it is meant to operate in harsh environments where reliable equipment that is easy to use is essential. This switch does not have a fan built into it, but it can operate safely in a wide ambient temperature range from -40 to 60 degrees Celsius. The GECKO 8TX/2SFP Lite managed switch features 10 ports in total which include eight 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX ports that can use twisted pair cables, and two 100 or 1000 Mbits per second-rated SFP ports.

The Hirschmann GECKO 8TX/2SFP Lite managed Ethernet switch typically operates at 12 to 24 Volts DC but it can support a wider voltage range from 9.6 to 32 Volts DC in special applications. The voltage is supplied by the switch’s terminal block which comes with it and which is a 3-pin plug-in terminal block. The GECKO 8TX/2SFP Lite managed switch and the terminal block are both meant to be mounted on a DIN Rail and both components are easy to mount because of their plug-in connection features. The dimensions of the managed switch without its terminal block are 38 x 102 x 79 millimeters. The environmental protection rating for the GECKO 8TX/2SFP Lite managed switch is IP 30. The twisted pair cables that the switch can use can be up to 100 meters long.
